March is a month of birthdays in the ZugHaus, so we’ve hit that IS TOMORROW MY BIRTHDAY? THE DAY AFTER THAT? WHAT ABOUT THE DAY AFTER THAT? time of year.

A few years ago – after enduring this daily deluge of questioning as early as September – I instituted a decree: Thou Shalt Not Discuss Thy Birthday Until the Passing of Christmas!

With that reprieve I’m actually looking forward to cake!

Last winter Seattle experienced a December Snowpocalypse, and we were without sleds while stranded for a week. Oddly enough, I found a couple on clearance in April.

(Because April is a GREAT month for sledding.)

Buying those sleds pretty much guaranteed it won’t snow here for decades.

I showed this picture to my daughter and said her grown-up teeth will grow in like this if she keeps sucking her thumb.

Now she won’t go to bed because WHAT IF I SUCK MY THUMB WHILE I’M SLEEPING?!?!

Having a thumb-sucker is convenient on the front end – no searching under the car seats! But now that I want to spare myself the expense of dental reconstruction on my six year old, I can’t just chop her thumb off.
