When I was growing up, my uncle had a dairy farm. I used to stand on the gate at the end of a long row of penned-up cows and pet the one closest to me.

I named her Jody after my sister, which made my uncle choke on his smoker’s laugh.

But as an imaginative six year old I didn’t see a dirty bovine swarming with flies inside a stinky barn – I saw an adorable black and white cutie-pie who waited daily for me to come and pat her head.
